it has happened to you

there are too many praying mothers

and I can feel their worried concerns

as they go up to heaven for a reply.

are we able to give them some relief

through the choices we make

here on the ground?

being powerless in a situation

sparks more fear and calling out

to the ether is of no help.

imagine it has happened to you

and you are without your lifelines

and there are no easy answers

because saving yourself seems impossible.

in these darkest of days

what is our responsibility

to one another?

and what can we actually do

to change the situation happening

in every daunting moment?

I have not found the answers to these questions

but I feel pulled into the abyss of sorrow

and need to act.

can someone save us from ourselves?

are we doing this to one another

out of love? I don’t think so.

differences seem to be

at the core of the problem

for those who dream of the world

without so much variety and spice

but what they don’t understand

is their own vulnerability

and how their actions

will come to haunt them in the end.
